I have been convinced that wordpress is a better site for my writing blog (this one that you are reading right now). I've migrated this blog over there. All the articles are there and all new articles from now on will be posted there. If you've landed here please check out the new version.

Top Albums List: 75 - 51
I made a list of my favorite albums of all time. I'll be posting it in three parts. This first part contains the bottom of that list, from number 75 to number 51. There's a severe lack of albums made before 2000 because I didn't really start to listen to music in any real way until around that time, if not a bit later. Also, compilation/best-of albums don't count so there are quite a few older acts (Led Zeppelin, for example) that won't make the list because I haven't gone back to listen to the original albums in full. All of the album highlights have links to youtube videos of the songs. All of those videos work at the time of this posting but I make no guarantees that they will continue to do so in the future. And now, the music!
75. Prince - Purple Rain (1984)
Album highlights: Purple Rain, When Doves Cry
74. The Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed (1969)
Album highlights: Gimme Shelter, You Can't Always Get What You Want
73. Middle Brother - Middle Brother (2011)
72. TV On The Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain (2006)
Album highlights: I Was A Lover, Wolf Like Me
71. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - The Social Network (2010)
Album highlights: Hand Covers Bruise, In the Hall of the Mountain King
70. The Strokes - Is This It (2001)
69. Spoon - Kill the Moonlight (2002)
68. Paul McCartney - Chaos and Creation in the Backyard (2005)
67. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus (2004)
66. Yeasayer - Odd Blood (2010)
65. The Shins - Oh Inverted World (2001)
64. The White Stripes - Icky Thump (2007)
Album highlights: Effect and Cause, You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do as You're Told), I'm Slowly Turning Into You
63. Kanye West - Late Registration (2005)
62. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings - I Learned the Hard Way (2010)
61. Run-D.M.C. - Raising Hell (1986)
60. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver (2007)
Album highlights: North American Scum, All My Friends, New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
59. The Shins - Wincing the Night Away (2007)
58. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002)
57. OK Go - Oh No (2005)
56. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend (2008)
55. Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Love Bad News (2004)
54. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication (1999)
53. The Mountain Goats - All Eternals Deck (2011)
52. RJD2 - Deadringer (2002)
51. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky (2007)
So there it is, the first third of my list. Let me know if you like or hate any of my choices. As you can see I didn't limit how many albums I could have by one act so there are a few people that get multiple mentions. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. If you want to call me out for being a hipster or too mainstream please do so in the comment section.
